Aegis Role: Technology Supply, Installation, Configuration, Integration, Testing & Commissioning

This case study represents a proposed Aegis solution submitted for client evaluation. It converts to a completed case study only after formal award/PO, execution, successful commissioning and handover, and client permission to reference it publicly.

Overview

Aegis Infrastructure Technologies developed a proposed hardware-refresh solution for a major corporate operations environment in Nairobi, addressing selected components of an existing CCTV and access control infrastructure. The proposed engagement combines modern video surveillance hardware, access control infrastructure, local storage, supporting power equipment and integration with the client's existing security management environment. The solution is engineered around a central objective: improve infrastructure reliability and operational continuity while maintaining compatibility with the existing security architecture.

The Challenge

The requirement was not simply to introduce a new security system. The client required a controlled refresh of selected components within an existing operational security environment, making compatibility, continuity and implementation discipline critical. The proposed approach needed to address: replacement of identified CCTV hardware; refresh of selected access control infrastructure; compatibility with the existing Genetec environment; protection of existing configuration and operational data; verification of existing connectivity; controlled replacement of field devices; improved image quality and camera reliability; access-control reader and controller verification; supporting power and standby requirements; minimization of operational disruption; structured testing, documentation and handover.

The Aegis Solution

Aegis proposed a coordinated CCTV and access control hardware-refresh program designed to work within the client's existing security architecture. Rather than treating the CCTV and access control components as isolated replacements, the solution considers: Field devices → Connectivity → Controllers → Security platform → Storage → Monitoring → Operations. The proposed implementation uses specified enterprise security technologies while retaining alignment with the existing Genetec environment, incorporating Axis video surveillance, Genetec access-control infrastructure, HID readers and Mercury control hardware, together with supporting power and storage components.

Systems & Technologies Proposed

Video Surveillance

  • 16 × AXIS P3288-LV Dome Cameras (installation, alignment, network connectivity, configuration, live-video testing, recording verification, image-quality verification, asset documentation)
  • 1 × AXIS M4327-P Panoramic Camera (orientation, coverage verification, configuration, video and recording verification)

Local Camera Storage

  • 17 × 256GB Axis SD Memory Cards (one per camera, subject to final recording policy and Genetec architecture)

Access Control

  • 1 × Genetec Synergis Cloud Link G2 (interface between field access-control infrastructure and existing Genetec Security Center)
  • 1 × HID Mercury Security MP1502 (access-control controller)
  • 11 × HID Signo Readers (9 × HID Signo 40TKS-03-02FTGC, 2 × HID Signo 40KTKS-03-02FTGC)

Power & Supporting Infrastructure

  • 7.5Ah standby battery
  • LifeSafety FPO150/250 power supply
  • GRI-6644 resistor packs

Storage Expansion (Separate Provision)

  • 2 × Samsung 9100 PRO 8TB NVMe M.2 SSDs (subject to confirmation of target host/storage platform, interface compatibility, firmware, thermal requirements, storage configuration)

Implementation Methodology

01

Mobilize & Verify

Review existing architecture, confirm equipment locations, verify connectivity, confirm quantities, establish operational constraints.

02

Prepare

Inspect equipment, verify models and serial numbers, confirm approved BOM, pre-configure where practical.

03

Controlled Replacement

Replace equipment systematically, retaining existing equipment where appropriate until replacements are verified.

04

Integrate & Test

Verify live video, recording, connectivity, image quality, reader operation, controller communication, access transactions, event reporting, Genetec communication.

05

Handover

Completion documentation, equipment schedules, serial-number records, test reports, configuration records, training/orientation, client sign-off.
